Salsa
This is the best Salsa movie from the USA.
Bobby Rosa stars in this movie based on West Coast Salsa. This is without doubt the best Salsa dance movie ever made. The story line & acting are what you can expect from a 80's movie. I love this movie & play it often. You should be able to rent a copy in your local USA video store. There is some great techniques in this movie. This is where lots of teachers got their start techniques from in the 80's. The movie has short sections of dancers doing Rueda & Salsatrio as well as Salsa.

There is also a Cd soundtrack for the movie.
I would recommend that all Salsa dancers at least view this movie.

How to Salsa with Kenny Ortega with the Salsa movie dancers
This was the first Salsa instructional video on the market. Has been hard to find for years. I have been waiting a decade to watch this video.
The cover says it is a promotional copy not for sale? If you can get over the clothes & the white socks this is not a bad beginners video. The styling is over the top for today but some of the moves are nice. Has the best shoulder shakes performance in a video so far. Some of the ladies styling was very good. If you liked the movie buy it. On 2 count for the moves. There is one advanced move I like when they are freestyling at the end.

DANCE WITH MEDance with me!  Starring Vanessa Williams & Puerto Rican superstar Chayanne, the film is a studio-bound romance set among a group of dancers training for the World Latin Dance Championship.
A Cinderella type story with more ballroom than Salsa, but still a good movie. I think there is too much ballroom latin & not enough Salsa but it's Okay. The Cuban section at the front of the movie is the most interesting.
Cd's by Chayanne.

This is the Salsa teacher in the movie Lantana.
It has a nice latin soundtrack. There are some nice scenes of Australia Salsa dancing in it. BUT IT IS NOT A SALSA MOVIE.

This movie contains live performances by Zenaida Armenteros con Septet Nacional de Ignacio Piñeiro. This performance also includes a Master level Salsa Casino dance performance. Ng La Banda also perform.

"A founding member of the Conjunto Folklórico Nacional de Cuba , Zenaida Armenteros is still with the group.Until recently she was the primary dancer of the orisha Oyá in the Conjunto. Zenaida's singing career spans more than 40 years. She started out by taking part in a singing competition on radio station Cadena Azul. One ofher early teachers was Obdulio Morales, an innovator who introduced the horn section to the popular music known as Son (or Salsa outside of Cuba).Zenaida has sung in the most prestigious clubs in Havana, such as the Tropicana, and appeared as a singer in two films, Yambao and Mulata.Música Yoruba captures the marvelous quality of this incredible singer's voice".

Roots of Rhythm with Harry Belafonte
This video is the best English video on Latin music.
These videos are the longest video series on Latin music. 3 videos from Africa to the Caribbean to the USA.
This joyous and colorful three-part musical odyssey surveys Latino music from its origin five centuries ago in Africa and Spain to the contemporary sound of such popular artists as Gloria Estefan, Ruben Blades, and Dizzy Gillespie. The videos trace the journey of this music from its African and Spanish roots through its cultural blending in the Caribbean to its popularity in the U.S., and eventually throughout the world.

No longer for sale.

Ruben Blades playing a salsa singer Rudy Veloz tries his hand at crossing-over to the anglo market (did that happen long before salsero corner's long and drawn out debate about Marc Anthony and his crossover album?). The movie has many good club scenes that feature Libre, and Yomo Toro's band with the legendary Virgilio Marti playing Blades mentor on the famed 'cuchifrito circuit'.
