our review
This is the first video I have had to watch several times before I could concentrate on the techniques.
This video is done outdoors in some amazing scenery in Western Australia. I was looking at this scenery, the kangaroo's, the girls in bikini top's instead of the techniques.
This is without doubt the most visually spectacular Salsa video I have seen.
I will describe this video as a Demonstrational/ instructional video. There are no verbal explanations of the techniques shown but several demo's in all possible views & speeds.
The format usually go's like this. A full screen front view, then a full screen side or back view. Then a slow motion view. Then a spilt screen giving two views at the same time.
I found it was easy to pick up all the techniques using this method.
This video is also the first to use an on screen counter for all the techniques. As the technique is being shown a beat/ rhythm counter is in the top left of the screen.
This video is for intermediate to advanced dancers. The video has some techniques no body else shows. In fact a couple of techniques I will be using as standard moves for myself as they are that good. This video is also full of the most amazing sayings about dancing & life.
Some of the techniques come from Leo Martinez, Wilberto Botey from Habana. I must say these are great dancers & teachers. In fact I also use their techniques in my style.
There is some original Cuban music & Clave rhythms used to teach.
The only complaint about the videos is the use of special effects to introduce the steps. But it's not to bad.
On a personal note. I have known of Fabio Boschetti for a couple of years. He is a well known Australian Salsa teacher. He has also taught at the World Salsa Congresso's.
He is known for being very honest & for having a great passion for Salsa.

This site sells a range of excellent dvd's on Latin dancing.
It's Merengue demo/ instructional video on the same format as the Salsa video and it has an
excellent Music tuition cd which includes a test for your rhythmic skill.

This video, 54 minutes long, shows some of the island's hottest dancers doing their thing in front of the camera.  It's a series of demonstrations
(see "The Program" below) of various couples showing off their unique style and hottest moves.
NOTE:  Nothing is choreographed!  This is straight up, street-style, lead & follow dancing at its best!

They added an introduction with a few highlights of dancing in clubs (showing some really cool moves), and added an ending with a few short interviews
(in Spanish with English subtitles.)

our review
The original video, "A Demonstrational Video of Cuban-Style Salsa Dancing From The Source ..."
is a series of demonstrations of some of the best dancers in Cuba.
This is my favorite demonstration video.
The music is great & I just put this on & relax to some great dancing & music.
You can also learn from it by pausing & slow forwarding the moves.

Cuban Salsa
¡Salsa a la Cubana!
Instructional Video #1
The Fundamentals of Cuban-Style Casino Salsa Dancing
This video, 36 minutes in length, teaches the fundamentals of authentic Cuban-style Salsa.  This is not a beginner's video.
Instead, it is designed for the dancer who is already familiar with some style of Salsa, and wants to learn this unique style.

The video starts off by showing dancing highlights in clubs.
Then, each couple demos their dancing for a minute and half each.
At the end are some more highlights of dancing in clubs including a high-energy rueda.

The instruction is given by two couples from Santiago de Cuba:  Ibert & Sunny, and Joel & Yaqueline who are among the very best dancers
I have seen during my many visits to Cuba.

This first instructional video, explains the fundamentals of Cuban-Style Casino Salsa Dancing:

It is oriented towards showing what is unique about Cuban-style salsa dancing.
It assumes you are already familiar with salsa basics, such as counting, a basic step, and some basic turns.
Basic moves such as Hecho, Deshecho, Dile Que No, Exhibala, Vacilala, Panque, and much more are shown.
Explains concepts particular to Cuban-style salsa such as the woman traveling in circles around the man, woman's arm placement, shoulder angles, who marks time, and the basics of improvising.

The instruction goes as follows:
For each move, the instructors demonstrate it to music, executing the move twice with two different angles to the camera.
Then, the move is broken down, with a voice counting the steps.  On some moves, further explanation is given (by the instructors themselves) in Spanish.
If you don't understand Spanish, there is (will be) a translation in the "The Guide to the Video" on the web site.

Ibert Vázquez Moreno and Sunny Soriano Malo de Molina

Ibert and Sunny are members of the Conjunto Folklorico del Oriente.
They are proficient in a variety of dance forms, including ballet, modern, all Cuban Folkloric dance forms, and Cuban Salsa.
They have a very deep understanding of the dance, and are able to explain the elements of what makes Cuban-style salsa unique.

Yaqueline Abiaque and Joel Fernandez Ferrer
Joel and Yaqueline formed their own duo, and call it "Son JJ" (JJ stands for Joel & Jaqueline - an alternate spelling of her name.)
They are the only couple I have seen chosen to regularly perform at a nightclub in Santiago de Cuba.
They have some of the most unique moves I have ever seen.  Together, they make a very captivating couple to watch.

Instructional Video #1: The Fundamentals of Cuban-Style Casino Salsa Dancing
Video#1 covers the level of basic steps shown in Eric's Demonstration video. It teaches you a series of standard Casino moves along with numerous concepts particular to Cuban-style Salsa.
This site provides testimonials from satisfied customers . Online sample clips of the videos
This video teaches the fundaments so the techniques can be learned by anyone. This video is suitable for all Casino dancers.

¡Salsa a la Cubana!
Instructional Video #2
Advanced Moves in Cuban-Style Casino Salsa Dancing
This video, 37 minutes in length, focuses on various cool advanced moves for Cuban Casino dancing.

The video starts off by showing dancing highlights in clubs.
Then each couple demos their dancing for half a minute each.

The instruction is given by two couples from Santiago de Cuba.  However, this video focuses on the many fancy moves of Joel & Yaqueline.

The ending, has a special surprise.  The couple most liked (based on feedback from the Demonstrational Video), is Joel & Yaqueline. I have two demonstrations of Yaqueline and Joel dancing.  The first one is on the Demonstrational Video.  The other is at the end of this video.  It shows many of the same moves that are instructed throughout the video.

In order to most benifit from this video, you should already be familiar with Cuban-Style Casino Salsa, including most of the moves from the first video such as Hecho, Deshecho, Dile Que No, Vacilala, etc.
      ...OR...
You should be proficient at picking up new moves.  This video could be used by the dancer who doesn't know Cuban-Style Salsa, but who wants to pick up some fancy moves and is capable of adapting the moves to their own style.

As in the first instructional video, each move is demonstrated to music, executing the move twice with two different angles to the camera.  Then, the move is broken down, with a voice counting out the steps.
our review
This is the first Advanced video on my list. There are some very complex moves here for both male & female dancers.
Both videos teach traditional & modern steps to the most advanced level. The Demo's provide additional steps not taught on the videos.
Review: Due to the complex & advanced nature of some of the turns in the advanced video I recommend that you do not try these moves with anyone but a permanent & advanced partner. Some of these moves are too advanced for normal social nightclub use without practice. I have to look at a move & think about all the types of people who will buy these videos & where they will use them.
This warning is geared towards beginner leaders who will try these moves in a nightclub on an unsuspecting partner.
Some of these turns are seriously unique to update Cuban dancers.
As most of you know as you advance in any dance the steps get harder & more complex.
This video is not a gymnastic video but has complex enfolding & embracing turns.

This series of videos is not really for beginners. You really need to be an advanced Salsa dancer. These videos do cover the basic steps but if you follow the dancers full movements you are getting an advanced lesson even in the most basic moves.
Ladies you cannot just be lead through some of these moves. You are going to have to be an advanced dancer on your own.
These dance steps will separate the great female followers from the great female dancers.
Some of the dance steps for the male are amazing. I usually look at a video & pick up the move straight away. With this video I had to think & review what they were doing. This is the first video I have seen that is hard and is going to really teach me. You are both going to have to practice these moves. You cannot lead a beginner or an intermediate dancer through these moves easily.
These videos teach moves not seen in the other Casino Salsa video.
I am not going to give a break down of the videos as Eric's site has already done this. In far greater detail than I would. Eric has given an honest review of these videos on his site.
Note: You will want to print out some of the pages on Eric's site for these videos. Eric has provided a massive set of written instructions for these videos on his site. In fact I think his review is better than mine. He covers all the points I would want to explain to you. Eric has provided On-line clips of the videos on his site.

Also, there is a SECURE new credit card ordering system. You will find this one easier to use, and for international customers Eric  no longer has to use express mail. This means the shipping & handling costs have been reduced to only $9 for international orders. PAL & NTSC format.

our review
Our review of all three videos :It is always a pleasure to watch people who can dance well.
I watch hundreds of hours of dancing video each year & it is always nice to find
excellent videos. These videos contain some of the smoothest Salsa dancing I have seen.
It is so nice to watch really good advanced dancers.
When I look at an advanced video I am happy if I can find one new move per video.
In these three new videos from Salsaville all had several new moves that I had never seen before.
These 3 new videos contains some common moves up to some of the most advanced Salsa
moves I have ever seen.
There are a couple of what I class as Master level moves in these videos as well.
These are excellent videos. Well worth adding to your collection.

Santiago de Cuba Rueda video
This is an excellent Cuban style video. This video contains Salsatrio , Rueda , Salsa Casino & the only Traditional Son & Quartetos de Casino ( 3 Women & 1 Man ) & Songo on video.
The majority of the video is devoted to rueda.....there are 6 segments devoted to it.

This video demonstrates many of the group dance styles that Cubans have fun with at their own house parties.

our review
There is a slow motion section after the credits at the end of this video but most of the video is Demonstrational
With the written instructional sheets that come with the video & a slow motion on your video it would be possible to learn the moves.
All the Rueda sequences are written down.
I think this video is great. Great solo, couple, group moves. This video has been shown at Cubanismo Concerts.
The music throughout the video is great. Just makes you want to dance.
Segments of the video were shot at a special party in Santiago  with a live band and audience....this party was a Boogalu production.

The video contains original Rueda turns as well as great individual moves.
The dancers are available for classes in Cuba & Overseas. Contact Boogalu web site for contact details.
The dancers are advanced to Master level in the moves they are showing.
I was most impressed with the moves being performed in the dance party sections of this video.

CASINO CUBANO  video by LÁZARO NORIEGA
The video is composed of three parts:

1 ~ Casino Dance Instruction
(19 segments)
Lázaro explains and demonstrates the basic steps, turns, and style of casino dancing accompanied by two members of his dance company, Iván and Dayami. Segment titles include: three basic steps - position - "el bote" - primary casino step with partner - steps for doing turns - simple turns - more complex turns - dancing casino advice

2 ~ Cuban Dance Movement
These exercises, led by Dayami, are helpful in learning how to move and groove in the Cuban style.

3 ~ Living Cuban Dance Traditions
The video concludes with a powerful performance of three traditional forms of Cuban dance that have significantly influenced contemporary casino dancing: orisha dance, rumba, and son. Iván and Dayami end the video with an exciting casino solo.

CASINO CUBANO is in Spanish with printed notes in English explaining in detail all the dance instructions and content on the video.
our review
This is an absolute beginners video in Spanish.
The sections are broken up with English sub titles on the video making it easy to follow the English booklet if you need to..
An English translation booklet comes with the video giving more information & to make
clear some points made on the video.
This is a nice slow introduction to the "simplified ", Casino now popular in the major cities in Cuba.
This is a popular & easy style of Casino to learn.
This is a nice intro to Cuban Casino & with the Living Cuban Dance Traditions gives you a great video for beginners.

Rueda Fresca video

1 - 13 rueda choreographies by performing group "Casino.com" demonstrated at regular tempo, and also broken down with counts at a much slower tempo.

2 - 11 rueda choreographies by performing group "Team Cuba" demonstrated at regular tempo, and also broken down with counts at a much slower tempo.

3 - live rueda performance event with performing groups "Casino.com" and "Impacto" with some of the same moves plus many more.
our review
This Rueda performance style video has set a new standard for a performance Salsa video in that it includes some public performances which include the moves taught in this video plus other moves.
Any advanced group of Rueda dancers should be able to include the turn combinations in this video in both their social dances & performances.
The moves cover some traditional Cuban turns plus some new unique turns not found in any other Cuban video.
The video holds your interest even viewing it several times. The music is great.
Another excellent video by Boogalu.com that is worth buying.

SALSA SUELTA means “loose salsa”…salsa danced without a partner. Have you seen those great step routines many salsa band members do on stage? ….the Cubans call it salsa suelta.

Similar to rueda de casino, salsa suelta is initiated when people want to party and dance together as a larger group. But instead of dancing in a circle as in rueda, salsa suelta is danced in lines.

With an emphasis on step routines combined with an imaginative variety of gestures and moves, salsa suelta is an easy going dance style that can be learned as you go. Because there is no partner involved it can be danced:
- in mixed groups large and small
- by yourself
- when you want to break apart in regular salsa dancing
- as a way to teach salsa steps and salsa choreographies

This DVD features Cuban style salsa suelta inspired from the dance culture of the barrios of Havana. The moves have evolved from a variety of Cuban dance traditions including rumba, orisha dance, son, cha cha cha, mambo, casino, plus the more modern influences of timba and hip hop.

The steps, routines, and changes are initiated by a leader who can direct the action using a variety of techniques including: - calling out the name of the moves - hand gestures - demonstrating with their body

Leaders repeat the steps and moves long enough for followers to catch on. Followers imitate what the leader is doing and change steps when the leader changes.

The Salsa Suelta Candela DVD has six sections:
1- Introduction
2- Salsa Suelta Performance
3- Salsa Suelta Basic Steps
4- Combination Moves Advanced
5- Dancing On and Off the Beat
6- Combination Moves Beginning

Our Review
This is a Demonstration video only

The dancers are all wildly energized with styling.

The dancers are all giving their best styling.

It was very interesting watching the mixing of traditional dance steps into modern Casino.

Many of these mix's are taught in our advanced classes in both Cuban Casino & Merengue.

Isaias Rojas is the most qualified Salsa teacher we have reviewed.
Isaias is a graduate of the National School of Art & the Superior Art Institute of Havana

Isaias is an excellent teacher. He is giving a clear explanation of these Cuban dance styles.

Well worth buying.
