Red Hot Salsa with Lisa Nunziella

Excellent NY Salsa/Latin aerobic video. It's great.

Lisa has made the best beinners Latin Aerobic video that we know of.
The music is great. The dancers are excellent. This is an interesting video with a slow & basic warm up. A Stretch section.
A long Salsa Aerobic section then a cool down. Finally a "how to section of the moves at the end".
It is not a total Salsa video but it is the best so far.
Well worth buying for males & females. The only complaint we have with this video is Lisa is cueing for a right forward basic not a left foot basic.
We ask that you mirror her steps not her cue's on the basic NY Salsa step.
Lisa is working on Red Hot Salsa II Extra Hot video/dvd at the moment.
One of the reason's we love this video is you know how tired you feel after a day at work well becouse this video workout starts out really gentle
& slow you do not feel you are working untill you get energized into working out.
This video really tricks you into working out.
Also if you are a beginner Salsa dancer this video will also teach you the basic steps & rhythms.

Style : Salsa exercise
Level : Very fit

This is now the best latin exercise dvd on the market. It is a Salsa style exercise dvd. It contains pure NY shines with some salsa rhythm inspired dance steps.
It is a much better routine than her first dvd which was geared towards the beginner market.
This dvd is made more for the serious Salsa dancer who is already fit.

For people looking for a salsa shine video this would be a great start.

I must point out you would have to be fit to do this dvd. It is very fast paced.

Buy Lisa's first dvd to prepare yourself for this dvd.

These next two videos should be brought together

The Method - Afro-Brazilian Cardio (1999)
This is a very good workout based on Afro-Brazilian steps. It has other steps in it to give a rounded full body workout. Very enjoyable. Buy this video first as a beginners video.

This is my 3rd Must have video for senior dancers

African Healing Dance (1997)
This is a Master level workout of beginners to advanced Afro & Afro-Caribbean steps. This is very similar to the way I was trained. The instructor has missed all the boring steps & has given you the most enjoyable movements. The instructor is one of the best at explaining this form of dancing I have seen. She is also one of the best dancers I have seen.
This is a must for all Afro, Conga, Guaguanco, Arara, Gaga, Bodu, Tajona, Yoruba dancers.
This will not be an easy video for most of you to follow but any of you who want to become Master level Salsa dancers should at least understand the beginners steps from the Afro dances. Most Master level dancers can dance at least the basic Cuban Rumba steps. For those of you who have been to the Salsa Congresso in Puerto Rico, you will know there are many Salsa dance companies that dance "Afro" to Salsa music.

salsa aerobics dancingAerobiccaliente- Reebok Rhythm section. Mauro is a well known teacher.
It's a fun workout. Very basic, no real Salsa, but an enjoyable video. This is a very popular Latin Aerobics video.

Afro Brazilian Dance Workout with Vanessa Isaac
Before I begin on the bad points I would to say this is an enjoyable video with a latin flavor & good soundtrack but & it is a BIG BUT. Vanessa is a normal non trained Brazilian who only knows the most basic step of the dances she is meant to be showing you. 95% of this video is USA Aerobics with a latin flavor with 5% of only the basic step of the Samba or Capoeira. Afro dances whether Afro Cuban or Afro Brazilian are specialist dances which involve different body movements than of the ordinary dancer. It is plain Vanessa has never had this training. Any Brazilian Sambistas, Male Passista or Mestre Sala dancers will find this video a disappointment. This video is good for the USA market as they do not know any better but do not think you will be able to join the real true Brazilian trained dancers. For all the bad points of this video it is still one of the best with a latin flavor just beware it is very limited in what it shows you.

Brazilian Dance Workout by Vanessa Isaac
This is the second video by Vanessa. It is much better than her first video.
This one is worth buying.
I liked it becouse the dancer to Vanessa's right is a better dancer than Vanessa & was worth watching.

Totalmente En Forma: Salsa Step - Dubbed in Spanish
This is a straight step video with a latin sound track. It is the program that you get on ESPN in the mornings. It is a very good length workout. Fairly mild in effort. If you get Spanish workouts on your Tv I would not bother to buy it but if you are like me now living in a Western country with little Spanish Tv this will remind you of home. I did enjoy this video.

Brazilian Capoeira for Beginne

Brazilian Cardio Capoeira

Viva ! Latin Rhythm by Elise Foss
This video is only available now on dvd.
This is a joke workout. We do not recommend you buy it.
A Latin rhythm workout. Ok maybe it has some really bad latin rhythms but the workout is a pure USA aerobic workout. Just becouse you name some USA aerobic steps with latin dance names does not make it a latin dance workout.
This video is a real disappointment.
The aerobic workout itself is a very good length. But do not think it has anything really to do with latin dance.
Vanessa's Afro Brazilian Dance Workout with Vanessa Isaac has much more latin steps in it.
This dvd video was a real disappointment.

Christy Lane's African & Caribbean Dancing by Lady Walquer is a joke workout.
We do not recommend you buy it.

En Forma Tropical con Susan y Anel
Also getting good reviews for beginners.

latin dancingLatin Rhythm Workout
"The tape includes a very brief warm-up, and then segments that essentially teach steps like the cha-cha-cha, the samba, and the merengue, followed by a few minutes of cool down. Because the steps aren't strenuous per se, there aren't two workout levels provided, as in most of Smith's tapes. Included is a bonus segment for you and a partner, to teach you how to take the steps onto the dance floor of your favorite salsa club. --Anne Hurley".
Note: This is one of the best Latin workout videos on the market.

Ritmos Latinos Hugo Diaz
The title means “Latin Rhythms” — a sexy, hip-movin’ workout by Argentine National  Aerobic Champion. From Ricky Martin to Tango, Latin is hot; this tape uses that Latin heat to keep you burning  calories and having fun. The workout has an “interval feel.” Hugo intersperses fast paced dance segments with slower  marches and half tempo steps. The routines include pivots, pulses and taps along with cha chas, mambos and  shimmies (often with a definite urban funk flavor). Teaching solo, Hugo is a charismatic instructor with a definite Latin  style (he even cues a little in Spanish). Not recommended for carpeted floors. ©1999. (51 min.). Not available in stores. There is also a Latin step video by Hugo. This session incorporates elements from Flamenco to Latin American  dance styles, alternating creative step patterns with low-impact floor movements all around the step. If you want to challenge yourself and have a blast, don't miss this workshop. You will be steppin', shakin', bumpin' and grindin'... Ole!!! Named "Best Latin Instructor in NYC" New York Times

Note: Gloria Quinlan's Salsa Aerobics is not very good, no real salsa moves, bad dancing.
Crunch: Fat Blaster Goes Latin is another of Gloria Quinlan videos. Not recommended

Aerobics Con Sabor : Bajo Impacto

Energetic Salsa
This video is irritating. I cannot recommend this video for beginners because of the bad camera angles, bad techniques, bad teaching.  If you can follow by his voice commands alone then okay but for beginners this video would take lots of viewing. They cut the senior dancers out of the screen & change the camera angle about every 15 seconds throughout the whole workout. By the finish the music was driving me nuts. I have watched this video just once now I am going to throw it in the garage & forget about it. I recommend you try some of the other Salsa Aerobic videos on the market.
However some Salsa teachers have found this video useful for warm up steps.

SalsArobics was the first Salsa Aerobics video on the market. It is an excellent intro to Latin dances & aerobic movement.
It teaches the basic steps to Salsa, Merengue, Rumba, Cumbia, it also includes steps from Lambada & Brazilian Samba.
This video has a very strong South American influence.
This video teaches in a TV show format which I found very enjoyable. The music used is very well known & popular.
This video teaches both single routines ( 28 min )& couple routines (31 min ). The video is a good 64 min long.
This is a very enjoyable video broken down into easy to follow sections with good instructions on the video & on the written pages that come with the video. Well worth buying.
They also sell a very nice looking T-shirt & have exercise videos for water based on these dances.

They look like Latin Ballroom dancers to me.

bellydancing.bellydancing
The reason for belly dance videos is becouse lots of males? & females are getting styling moves from this dance to include in their Salsa style.
